Little Support for D.C. Statehood: "A Washington Post poll finds that by a margin of 58% to 22% Americans do not want to grant statehood to the District of Columbia.'Democrats were more likely than Republicans and independents to stand up for D.C. (25 percent versus 20 percent and 19 percent, respectively). Young folks were more sympathetic than old (30 percent vs 12 percent, respectively). And folks living in the Northeast and West were friendlier than those in the South and Midwest.' "
